One of the things I love most about a kitchen update is that even small changes can make such a big impact. Fresh paint, new countertops and backsplash, and updated lighting can completely change the feel of a space while adding value to your home. Thanks for following along with this transformation.
We’ve been going to the mountains of North Carolina for 20 years. A few years ago, we moved into a larger home to accommodate our large family that come every summer, creating the best memories for all of us. The house required a major renovation, which I’m constantly tweaking. Today I’m sharing the kitchen transformation.
BEFORE
AFTER
The kitchen needed an updated look with a lot more function. We added a large island, with laminated fabric on the Counter Stools (so no worries about spills), I wrapped the simple subway tile backsplash around the door and window for a seamless look and added antique heart pine open shelving to add warmth and character, and blend with the antique floors. I’ve always loved these Urban Electric Co pendants and couldn't wait to use them. We had them custom painted in Ben Moore Dove White to match the cabinetry with unlacquered brass accents to complement the MYOH brass hardware. I added lots of large drawers for storage. I also removed a 10’ support wall between the kitchen and living room (requiring major structural beam supports), giving us a more open floor plan so everyone can watch their favorite sports while cooking or eating. It’s been a great transition for our family. Hope you like it as much as we do!
